Entrances to the Park

Know Before You Go

Rainbow Springs State Park has very high visitation on weekends and holidays. When the park reaches capacity at the headsprings entrance, the park will close to all visitors. When the park is closed, vehicles may not wait in line in the park or on adjacent roads. Due to high visitation, Annual Pass sales are restricted to weekdays and non-holidays only. Annual Passes may also be purchased online. Check in for camping is 3 p.m. or later on your day of arrival. 

Habitat Restoration in Progress

The park is in the process of restoring sandhill habitat. The long-term restoration project includes non-native tree removal, prescribed burning, invasive plant control, and replanting of trees and native ground cover. 

Headsprings Day Use Area Entrance

Enjoy the birthplace of the Rainbow River, the site of an old roadside attraction. Swim in the clear spring water, always 72 “bone chilling” degrees. Visit the Gift Shop, and take a stroll through the Historic Attraction Walk. Canoe, kayak, and stand up paddleboard rentals and dining (dining open seasonally) are available from our concessionaire, Guest Services Inc. Take a hike on the Phosphate Loop Trail and the Sandhill Trail. Inner-tubes are prohibited at the headsprings location, and swimmers must stay in the designated swimming area to protect the aquatic preserve. On hot summer weekends and summer holidays, the headsprings often reaches capacity so come early.

Camping Entrance

The campground is available to registered campers only; reserve your campsite online and make your reservations early because the campground is very popular. The campground gates are locked at all times. On your day of arrival only, call ahead to obtain the gate code.

Tubing Entrance
